Insightful views of urban development

Lakehead University Professor Livio Di Matteo offers some interesting thoughts on our urban development strategy or lack of.(Chronicle Journal March 13-06). He suggests the way we are heading with development around the hospital we will be creating a "4th urban core".Along with Intercity,South core and North core it would appear our development strategy is need of some serious re-working.The idea of having the North as a tourist/entertainment centre,the South being administrative centre and Intercity as the commercial hub is the apparent sensible direction.However, as he says, there are those who want to remain unchanged and those who want to change everything,hopefully there is a compromise.
