Selling Our City Short

It appears the media has convinced the people of Thunder Bay that we are in a poor investment market.However, everyone else thinks otherwise. Some more recent commercial sales have been scooped up by out of town buyers and the trend will continue. Our returns are much better than bigger centres and those who scout the national market know it. On the other hand when local developers do try to move in a positive direction they seem to run into much more opposition from even City Council then others.A case in point was the recent approval of the hotel site at Carrick and Harbourview, this site required rezoning and Councillors fell over each other to approve the out of town investment, which I applaud.But when local developers did the same on Golf Links and Oliver Road, there was no such support along with some opposition.What gives?
